Urban Resilience Symposium at HCU

The HafenCity University will host its first Urban Resilience Symposium: foundations revisited and new directions for urban transformations, with the purpose of bringing together an exciting and diverse panel of international researchers to exchange via a series of impulse talks and discussion sessions on the current state of urban resilience as an adopted concept and approach for urban development.

We are happy to welcome as guest panellists: Lorenzo Chelleri (UIC, Spain), Giulia Datola (Politecnico di Milano, Italy), Nicola Tollin (SDU, Denmark), Heike Köckler (Hochschule Bochum, Germany), Annisa Triyanti (UU, Netherlands), Maksym Terletsky (City Institute Lviv, Ukraine), Emma Colven (King´s College, London, UK), Charlotte Heinzlef (UVSQ, France), Alexandra Engström (HSG, Switzerland), Pasquale Capizzi (ARUP), David Jácome-Polit (ICLEI) and Bruna Pincegher (Politecnico di Torino, Italy).

The session series are scheduled during two days, on November 25th and 26th 2025, and are organised along four themes: foundations, equity, dimensions and bouncing forward. Each of the planned sessions will present three short impulse talks, followed by a moderated discussion and audience Q&A.

This is an open invitation for scholars, researchers and students with an interest in the topic of urban resilience to take part, listen in to the sessions and bring ideas or questions into the exchange. The capacity of the sessions is limited – first come, first served principle. Participation is free of charge.

Event organised by the Chair of Digital City Science. The symposium is funded as part of the PUSCH research funding programme by the Vice-President for Research and Internationalisation, Prof. Dr. Annette Bögle, based on a decision by the Presidential Board.
