PhD in glaciology, geosciences, and climate

https://dbuiron71.wixsite.com/daphnebuiron

Daphné Buiron defended a PhD in glaciology in 2010 at the LGGE (Grenoble), focusing on the investigation of polar ice cores and global climate change. In 2012 she overwintered at the French Dumont d’Urville station in Terre Adélie, working as a chemist and glaciologist. Passionate by polar regions, she started in 2015 to work as an expedition guide onboard cruising ships in Antarctica and in the arctic and overseeing the organization of citizens sciences programs onboard. She publishes articles for general journals, co-wrote a documentary book about the Astrolabe ice-breaker ship in 2017, write books for kids and gives conferences and educational workshops. Fascinated by Greenland and Inuit culture she spent three months in Greenlandic villages. She completed the MOOK Nordic Quebec about Inuit anthropology (Univ Laval) in 2020. Today, she investigates research inspired by her field explorations, provides sciences mediation, and takes part of multidisciplinary projects focusing on human and natural life in polar and remote places. She actively keeps going with writing to share her experiences.
