The concept of resilience is essential to meeting the complex challenges of climate risks. An innovative, dynamic concept that enables a systemic vision of the issues at stake, resilience is now a keystone in risk management. However, its implementation remains complex and unevenly distributed across the world. This research explores the resilience of the island of Bora Bora, in French Polynesia, a territory particularly exposed to cyclone risks and sea-level rise. The originality of this study lies in a methodological paradigm shift: the innovation lies not only in spatial modeling, but in the systematic use of mixed methods. By combining a quantitative approach (spatialized statistical indicators) and a qualitative approach (perception surveys and field interviews), this research manages to capture dimensions of resilience that are often invisible in conventional models. The integration of social, cultural, and institutional data makes it possible to go beyond static vulnerability analyses and offer a dynamic assessment rooted in local realities. The results demonstrate that this methodological hybridization is essential to accurately reflect island adaptation capacities and constitutes an essential lever for guiding risk management strategies in complex environments. In the first part, we will describe the complexity of the geographical and scientific context, followed by a description of the quantitative and qualitative methodology used. Finally, in the third section, we present the results obtained for the Bora Bora case study.
